Meru National Park achieved international recognition with Joy Adamson's novel Born free, the story of Elsa the lioness. The park is noted for lesser kudu, baobab tree, and elephants with long tusks. It is also home to lions, leopards, cheetahs and grevy’s zebra. It's physically dramatic with rocky kopje and many small streams from Nyambeni hills.
